Psychotherapy

I use methods based in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Existential Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Acceptance, and Interpersonal Therapy. I find therapy highly effective for many people. As we identify situations, events, thoughts, and patterns of behaviors that have become a distressing part of your life, I will provide you with concrete insight and tools that will provide understanding, hope, and progress towards a better way forward.  I want you to enjoy your life.

Medication Management

My process to prescribing medications is to first gather a comprehensive medical and mental health history and to rule out medical conditions, dietary causes, or events in your life that may be contributing to your symptoms. There are times when traditional gold standard medications such as antidepressants and medications for anxiety are most appropriate. In these times, we will decide together based on informed decision making and minimizing risks vs benefits the best option.

*Please note Sewell Psychiatry is exclusively telehealth and does not prescribe controlled medications including Adderall, opiates, and benzodiazepines.*

Nutrients and Plant-Based Supplements

In integrative psychiatry, we highlight the vital role of specific vitamins, minerals, and plant-based nutrients in mental health. Essential nutrients like omega-3 fatty acids, magnesium, and B vitamins are crucial for optimal brain function and emotional regulation. Antioxidants found in plants help combat oxidative stress, supporting cognitive clarity and resilience. Our practice focuses on integrating these key nutrients with modern medicine into comprehensive care plans, empowering you to enhance your mental well-being through a scientifically informed understanding of how nutrients impact mood, anxiety, and overall mental health. Explore how a targeted approach to nutrition can be a transformative aspect of your mental health journey.

Pharmacogenetic Testing

At our practice, we incorporate pharmacogenetic testing as a vital tool in your mental health treatment plan. This innovative approach examines how your unique genetic makeup affects your response to various medications. By analyzing specific genes, we can identify which medications are most likely to be effective for you and which may cause unwanted side effects. This personalized insight allows us to tailor your treatment, increasing the chances of a successful outcome while minimizing trial and error. With pharmacogenetics, we aim to enhance your mental health journey by ensuring you receive the most effective and safest medications for your individual needs.
