LaToya's Philosophy

Many people who actually want help are on a very long and difficult road to finding a clinician to prescribe their medications and a separate therapist who they connect with for therapy. This process can take months if not years to find the right fit and can be discouraging. My philosophy is to increase access to comprehensive mental health care and not make it more difficult during a person's most vulnerable and overwhelmed time of need. I not only prescribe and monitor your medications but, you will have the opportunity to have your therapy sessions with me as well. I find therapy highly effective for many people. I truly enjoy spending time learning about you and to me every visit is an opportunity for therapeutic communication. Learning your story, what has brought you to this time in your life, understanding how events have affected you and those around you, and what course you envision for yourself forward. Fortunately, for the majority of my career I have not practiced in fast food medicine settings thus, it's never become a part of who I am. Your appointment is your time. Your time to dedicate to you. Your time to take care of you. You will not be rushed and I will not overbook. I am here for your medication management needs and I am also here as a reminder for you to slow down and reflect on how you are managing life.

Integrative Psychiatry

I am fascinated by how smart, resilient, and forgiving the human body can be even after years of abuse. This led me to pay close attention to genetics and the benefits of naturally occurring remedies that have sustained the human race for centuries. I bring a unique quality to my practice incorporating modern medicine and the clues our bodies give us as to what we are naturally missing. Some patients really need and benefit well from modern medications.

Some patients really need correction of nutritional deficiencies and respond well to the calming effects of plant based therapies, lavender for example. Some need or prefer both approaches. Cultural, personal faith, past experiences, and many other individual factors shape how a person prefers to receive care, their comfort level, and openness to treatment options. My philosophy is to be a trusted partner with my patients to get to the root of their struggles and make life more purposeful and enjoyable.
