Walk Therapy has arrived at Sewell Psychiatry!

Walk Therapy combines the mental health benefits of movement with the support of traditional therapy. Walking can help reduce stress, improve mood, and promote clearer thinking—making it easier to relax and engage in meaningful conversation during sessions.

By stepping outside the traditional office setting, clients often feel more at ease, leading to a more natural, open therapeutic experience. This approach is especially helpful for those who prefer a more active or less formal environment.

Sessions are 30 minutes in length, offering a convenient and effective option for busy schedules. Insurance coverage applies, making this a practical way to support your mental health.

TREADMILL

Whether at home or in a gym. A treadmill is a great way to get in a walk in a structured controlled environment. Rain or shine you can still commit to your exercise and therapy time.

WALKING PAD

Ok, here's where I shine! I love a good walking pad. I utilize this in my own practice where sitting at a desk can lead to tight calves, thighs, and back. Having the flexibility to stand and walk even during a break at work is sensational! During our sessions you will often catch me walking right along side of you on my walking pad.

OUTDOORS

One of the best ways to calm the sympathetic nervous system (fight or flight) and activate the parasympathetic nervous system (rest and digest) is through exposure to nature. From the sounds, smells, and sights, to the feeling of the cool breeze, an outdoor walk is a great way to put life and perspective into focus.

HOME GYM

A home gym allows for maximum privacy, ultimate convenience, and flexibility. Whether you are rolling out of bed with 30 min to spare, or winding down after a long work day and commute. Having the ability to just walk into your own space free from feelings of judgment or the need to dress fancy can be a huge motivator.
